Inspired by Colorful Stacked Shipping Containers

On one of the last remaining waterfront plots, DOCK 3.0 and DOCK 4.0 were completed in 2017 and 2018, finalizing the “THE DOCKS” project at 11 Lindleystraße.

While the building’s front on Lindleystraße has a distinct, standalone look with two separate structures, the side facing the harbor is inspired by vibrant stacks of shipping containers. Expansive windows fill the offices with natural light and provide partial views of the water. Inviting loggias offer picturesque views of the harbor, the European Central Bank, and the Frankfurt skyline.

Unique Features and Challenges of the Construction Process

  • Because of the close proximity to the Main River, internal bracing was added to the retaining wall along the harbor railway.
  • The underground levels were constructed using a split-level design.
  • The entire outer wall facing the harbor basin was designed with a slant.
